About Us

Dr. Terry Shirvani founded Virtuosity Formulations, a natural products industry consulting firm, to address the ever-growing needs of brand owners in the areas of product development, R&D, quality and compliance, and scientific affairs. He is uniquely qualified to address the needs of brand owners and has proven himself to be an invaluable resource.

Dr. Shirvani is a master formulator with over 20 years’ experience developing products for the natural products industry. He has been involved in the development of over one hundred products for brands such as Life Extension, Progressive Laboratories, Pure Essence Labs, Therabotanics, GOLO, Traditional Medicinals, and The Chopra Center.

A principled clinician and a consumer advocate at heart, Dr. Shirvani operates according to the naturopathic oath and the six principles of naturopathic medicine. Since the mid 2000s, he has been on a mission: to raise the bar around quality in the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Shirvani has played a leading role in industry compliance with and implementation of dietary supplement Good Manufacturing Practices during his career. He has developed Quality Management System Plans, and provided assistance in implementation of these plans, for a number of successful brand owners.

Prior to founding Virtuosity Formulations, Dr. Shirvani served as Chief Science Officer for Ideal Living Management where he provided leadership and oversight in the areas of quality, regulatory, product development, and scientific affairs. Before that, he served as Chief Science Officer for GOLO, Director of Product Innovation at Progressive Laboratories, Senior Scientist at Life Extension, Director of Education and R&D at Pure Essence Labs, and R&D Scientist at Natural Alternatives International.

Dr. Shirvani received his doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine (formerly the National College of Naturopathic Medicine), the oldest accredited naturopathic medical university in North America and a leader in natural medicine education.

David Wolfson is a naturopathic doctor who received his training at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR. Dr. Wolfson specializes in nutrition and botanical medicine and has written and lectured extensively on these topics. Dr. Wolfson managed a private practice in Central California for several years and taught nutrition and physiology at the Natural Healing Institute in San Diego, CA. For the last twenty years, Dr. Wolfson has been working within the nutritional products industry as a speaker, product formulator, scientific consultant, and technical writer.
